That hair! That mustache! Much like the finest bottle of wine, Yanni—contemporary New Age pianist extraordinaire—just gets better with age. Though the composer released his first album in 1984, it would take nearly a decade before he broke into the mainstream with Reflections Of Passion, which was essentially a best-of collection with the addition of three new compositions. “This album represents my life's passions during the past 10 years,” Yanni wrote in the liner notes. “It is an expression of love for the people in my life, as well as for some very special and inspiring places I can never forget.”
Over the years, Yanni has performed everywhere from Sri Lanka to South Korea, and has played all sorts of different venues, from arenas to the Acropolis. (Yanni’s 1994 album, Live At The Acropolis, peaked at #1 on the Billboard Top New Age Album chart and the accompanying concert film was nominated for an Emmy.) That said, the spiritual music guru isn’t afraid to admit he still gets nervous before taking the stage. “There is nothing like the excitement and interaction with a live audience,” Yanni said to SavannahNow.com. “I get butterflies before every single show, and I feel an immense connection and inspiration from every audience, anywhere in the world. Nothing beats performing live, there is nothing like it.” See Yanni Live with ScoreBig, where you’ll save on every ticket, every day.
