La Ley, which is Spanish for “The Law,” first rose to Latin-rock prominence in the early ’90s with the release of their sophomore album, Doble Opuesto, which roughly translates to mean “Double Opposite” in English. The LP featured songs like “Desiertos,” “Prisioneros de la Piel” and a cover of The Rolling Stones hit “Angie,” all of which were a hit with audiences and made the band a must-see for fans in Chile, Argentina and Mexico. Known for their dark imagery and brooding melodies, La Ley was one of the first rock bands to buck tradition by singing in Spanish and is considered a huge part of the rock en español movement that developed in South America during the late ’80s. “We never thought we were going to be part of a movement, nor much less did anything to make that happen,” singer Beto Cuevas told MTVIggy.com in June 2014. “It was simply that we were at the right place, we made good music, and the public liked it. In that sense, we did become an important link to the Latin rock movement. But beyond that, I could not say more because it’s not something we did consciously. We simply became that by being put in that place in history, at that chosen time.” After 16 years of recording and performing together, La Ley took a break in 2005, but reformed in 2013 and released a new greatest hits collection, Retour the following year. Whether you’re discovering La Ley for the first time or you’re one of the band’s initial crop of fans, you don’t want to miss the chance to see them perform live. “Every single concert that we do, we perform it as if it’s the last one of our lives and with that level of passion we do it,” Cuertos went on to tell MTVIggy.com. “So, beyond the technical and visual sides to the performance, which are very appealing, the most important thing is the union between us [the bandmates] on stage doing what we know best.” With ScoreBig, you save on every La Ley ticket, every day.
