Xavier University might not be the nationally recognized institutions of higher learning that it is were it not for the exceptional track record of its basketball program. Big-Time Success   Playing their first official game in 1920, the Xavier Musketeers came to prominence under head coach Pete Gillen who led the team to its first ever victories in the NCAA tournament. Skip Prosser, Thad Matta and Sean Miller were the coaches to follow Gillen and each one took the Musketeers to a new level of national recognition.   Cincinnati native and Xavier alum Chris Mack took the reigns of the program in 2009 and has enjoyed tremendous success in his young tenure. Since 1986, Xavier has seen every single player on its men’s basketball team who exhausted his eligibility graduate and get a degree.
