The Toronto Blue Jays were added to Major League Baseball as part of the league's 1977 expansion. They are the only team currently playing in the MLB that is not based in the United States, though they are the second franchise to have been established in Canada. (The Montreal Expos relocated to Washington, D.C. and became in the Washington Nationals in 2004.)
Looking For Steady Improvement
Over the past decade, the Toronto Blue Jays have had the misfortune of playing in the American League East, competing against the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, and more recently, the Tampa Bay Rays. An argument can be made that getting to the postseason is much more treacherous for them than it is for any other team in baseball, but, alas, these are cards they're dealt and the barriers they must overcome.
Toronto won the World Series in consecutive seasons in 1992 and 1993, beating the Atlanta Braves to secure their first championship title and then defeating the Philadelphia Phillies with a memorable walk-off home run by Joe Carter to earn their second.
Save on Toronto Blue Jays Tickets
The Blue Jays play their home games at Rogers Centre, which has the capacity to seat nearly 50,000 fans, and every single one of those seats is in demand when the Blue Jays are in town. The 1991 Blue Jays were the first MLB team to attract over 4 million fans in a single season, and attendance has remained strong ever since.
