The success of the alt-rock radio smash, “Let Her Go,” actually marks the second chapter for British singer Michael David Rosenberg, better known to U.S. audiences as Passenger. The band actually existed as a folk-rock quartet in the early ’00s, but eventually called it quits. However, when Rosenberg decided to soldier on, musically, he kept the Passenger namesake and has released five albums under the adopted moniker. So did he feel pressure to churn out more hits right out the gate? Not so much, as the singer indicated in a recent interview with The Indepentdent: “There are two ways to approach it—I could pile loads of pressure on myself and think to myself, ‘Right, I need another five ‘Let Her Go’ songs in my career.’ Or I think, ‘How amazing to have one. What an amazing story to tell my grandkids. What an amazing year of my life.’” His most recent album, Whispers, came out in June 2014 and features new singles like “Scare Away The Dark” and “Heart’s On Fire.” Often compared to other acts like Mumford & Sons and Ed Sheeran, Rosenberg blends together traditional British folk with modern pop melodies. “Ultimately, with Whispers, Rosenberg has crafted an album of sweet, hummable anthems for tender-hearted troubadours everywhere,” AllMusic wrote in a glowing review of the LP.
