Legendary country-folk-rock group the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band celebrates its 50th anniversary by returning home to Long Beach to headline the Long Beach Folk Revival Festival. The band's landmark album Will the Circle Be Unbroken brought folk luminaries like Mother Maybelle Carter, Earl Scruggs and Roy Acuff to a whole new generation and was recently inducted into the U.S. Library of Congress. In addition to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, this good old-fashioned jamboree features some of the best roots artists around, including The White Buffalo, Chuck Ragan, JD McPherson, Leo "Bud" Welch, Willy Tea Taylor, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, and many more. Held in beautiful downtown Long Beach's Rainbow Lagoon Park, the festival will also include a beard and mustache contest, gourmet food trucks and craft beers, an "instrument petting zoo" and a slew of other fun stuff.
