Playing for most of their history in the shadow of the football team, Colorado Buffaloes Men’s Basketball team is one of the fastest rising programs in the nation. Entering their third year in the Pac-12 and fourth season under head coach Tad Boyle, the Buffaloes are currently enjoying the greatest success in the history of a program that dates back to the early 20th Century. It’s time to get on this bandwagon.
A Sudden Hotbed for Hoops
With an absolutely relentless approach to recruiting, Tad Boyle has changed everything in Boulder. For ages, the only former Colorado Buffalo making waves in the NBA was 2004 Finals MVP and likely future Hall of Famer Chauncey Billups. But all of a sudden, the Buffaloes have engineered a major surge in talent and success. Two years ago, Buffs guard Alec Burks was selected by the Utah Jazz as a lottery pick in the NBA draft.
After a few years bouncing around Europe and the D-League, former Buffalo Chris Copeland has found his stride in the NBA and was Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month in April, 2013.
After two straight 20+ win seasons and two straight tickets to the Big Dance, the Buffaloes enter 2013-14 with a target on their backs. Junior Spencer Dinwiddie and Askia Booker lead the charge for Boyle’s Buffaloes, and in a wide open Pac-12, there’s every reason to expect the Buffaloes should improve upon a stellar campaign last year.
