The Atlanta Dream   The Atlanta Dream made their WNBA debut in the 2008 season, and from the start, the franchise has had its eyes on the prize. And with a name inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, failure has never been an option.   The Building of a Dream Team   Marynell Meadors, a woman with decades of college coaching experience, two NCAA tournament appearances, and a conference championship under her belt in addition to the two years she spent coaching the WNBA’s own Charlotte Sting, was chosen to be the head coach and general manager. (She even beat former NBA player Dennis Rodman out for the job).   Slow out of the gates, the Dream started their inaugural season with a record-setting 17 consecutive losses before finally coming out on top against the Chicago Sky , though they later ended the season with a disappointing 4-30 record. But not one to simply accept defeat, Meadors made some impressive trades during the offseason and coached the team into the playoffs in 2009, earning herself a Coach of the Year award. The following season, the Dream made it all the way into the WNBA Finals.   Meadors was let go as the head coach in the middle of the 2012 season and was replaced by Fred Williams, who helped the team finish out the final 10 games of the year with a 7-3 record.
