Famed for his expressiveness, Gustavo Dudamel is probably the perfect conductor to lead the LA Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale in a performance of Leonard Bernstein's stirring score for West Side Story at the Hollywood Bowl. The classic Tony and Oscar-winning musical takes the most famous romance of all time, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and sets it loose on the streets of 1950s New York to tell the story of star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria. Their ill-fated courtship plays out against the fierce racial rivalry between street gangs the Sharks and the Jets, in a truly timeless story of passion and prejudice. Dudamel, the artistic and musical director of the LA Philharmonic, will lead the acclaimed orchestra and chorus through such gorgeous Bernstein-Sondheim songs as "Maria," "America," "Somewhere" and "Tonight," as part of this special evening under the stars. Plus, your tickets include a Goldstar gift certificate.
