There really weren’t many bands better than Pearl Jam to come out of the ‘90s. Lead singer Eddie Vedder remains a staple in rock music, with a voice so unique you can pick it out immediately. Lead guitarist Mike McCready is another name and sound we’ve all come to know, who finds inspiration in fellow guitar prodigy, Eddie Van Halen and the late Jimi Hendrix. The band’s sound is completely unique with their rock/grunge (bordering hard-rock) sound and sometimes hard-to-understand lyrics, linking them to seventies bands like Led Zeppelin and The Who and adapting their punk-rock attitude from the Ramones.
Pearl Jam’s first album, Ten, in 1991 brought the band straight into Seattle’s grunge scene with the legendary Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. This album went on to be one of the highest-selling rock records of all time, now 13x platinum. They’ve gone on to produce another 9 albums between the years 1993 and 2013, releasing unforgettable hits like “Even Flow”, “Jeremy”, “Yellow Ledbetter” “Better Man” and so many more. The current tour will highlight recent album, Lightning Bolt, with singles “Mind Your Manners” and “Sirens”. They’ve been known to finish shows with a cover of Pete Townshend’s “Baba O’Riley”.
