Founded by iconic owner Lamar Hunt, the Kansas City Chiefs were a charter member of the American Football League in 1960 before the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Did You Know… The name “Chiefs” was given to the team in honor of Kansas City Mayor Harold Bartle, who invited the franchise to move from Dallas to Missouri.
