One of the charter teams of the American Football League in 1960, the Buffalo Bills were one of the dominant teams of that storied football decade, winning two AFL Championships and coming within one game from playing in the first ever Super Bowl. Well known for their fervent fan support and periods of sustained success, with a new coach and a reloaded roster, the Buffalo Bills are charging back into contention. Storied Past. Bright Future The Buffalo Bills were welcomed into the NFL in 1970 during the AFL-NFL merger and have played their home games at the 80,000-seat Ralph Wilson Stadium at Orchard Park since 1973. In one of the greatest individual seasons ever, Buffalo Bills superstar OJ Simpson became the first player to rush for over 2,000 yards on his way to an MVP award. Befitting an industrial city that boasts some of the most frigid temperatures in the United States, Buffalo's teams have often been characterized as gritty, tough and uncompromising. Under Hall of Fame coach Marv Levy and Quarterback Jim Kelly, the Buffalo Bills were at their best in the late 1980s and early 90s. Though they failed to win a Super Bowl, the Bills remain the only team in history to reach the game four straight years. In 1990, the Bills were within sight of a championship but for one ill-fated Scott Norwood field kick. Storming back after heartbreak, the Buffalo Bills returned to the Super Bowl in 1991 season but lost… and again in 1993….and again in 1994. Rumor has it that Jim Kelly has never watched any of the Super Bowl losses, but many Buffalo fans look back on those days fondly. According to USA Today sportswriter Mike Lopresti, “they made elation and pain parts of every Buffalo winter.”  Playing in a division thoroughly dominated by the rival New England Patriots, the Buffalo Bills are building a team to compete. With Russ Brandon as GM and Doug Marrone Head Coach, the Bills will continue to exploit a hard-nosed running game and fearsome defense as they look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.   Save on Buffalo Bills tickets With one of the best fan bases in all of sports, the Buffalo Bills naturally host one of the most epic tailgates on the planet.
